story of the world: volume 2 lapbook

The following lapbook components are a completion of the wonderful lapbook components that Alia started. Due to circumstances out of her control, she was unable to complete Volume 2. I offered to complete them for her and make them available here on my blog for a suggested donation of $3.

I've included the pictures of our lapbook. We decided to make a castle to hold all of our SOTW chapter elements. This is two file folders glued back to back. I spray painted the file folders gray--it took four coats as I was trying to cover a purple file folder. I would recommend spraying the regular manilla colored file folder. I think the colored ones have a slight finish on them that made it hard for the paint to adhere. I let my girls each choose a "castle door" from google images and we printed it on white paper and glued it to our lapbook. The knights are stickers. The letters came from my trusty pile of scrapbook goodies.

To download The Story of the World Volume 2 components for chapters 1-23, go HERE. I hope you and your children enjoy lapbooking together! Thanks for stopping by!

Story of the World Volume 2 (Chapters 24+)

Many hours went into this project. As this is only half of the book, I'm asking for a suggested donation of $3. All donations received will go towards the ministry my husband and I have of sending couples to a week long marriage retreat at The JH Ranch. Blessings to you!

Feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you love about lapbooking! If you have a specific question, feel free to email me at johnstonhouse at gmail dot com.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

I am about to START SOTW Vol. 2, and I was getting stressed! (I gather EVERYTHING before starting, so I don't lose steam when I have to go and find something.)

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart!

We love lapbooking, but I have NO CLUE how to make the components like you have.

Teary eyed, I attempt to leave a comment that reflects my awe at the body of Christ! When one part of the body is hurting, another comes to its rescue.

You are a beautiful representation of the body! Ironically, we just arrived on our Story of the World journey, on Chapter 24 of volume two, and are very happy to visualize the completed lapbook. We are new to lapbooking and homeschooling. We love what you have done! Hopefully, we can continue this lapbook thread with the remaining volumes!

THANK YOU!

Hello I was interested in doing the Story of the World Volume 2 lap book. I will need all the chapters 1-42. I tried to access the Chapter1-23 it said the blog was removed. I was able to view 24-42. They look fabulous. Do I pay $3.00 for the first 1-23 and an additional $3.00 for the 24-42? Thanks. I just found story of the world and I am very excited to share it with my son.
Thanks and God Bless

Thanks for bringing it to my attention that Alia's blog is shut down--such a bummer! She had so many great resources for SOTW. I have the files to the first half of SOTW 2 and have uploaded them--see the link above. For some reason she never did a lapbook element for chapter 17. I will do that at some point and add it to the downloaded files. I am busy for the next few weeks, so no promises of when that will be. I have it on my to-do list. It won't look the same as hers did as I have no idea where she picked up the art for her lapbook elements. Melissa--as to a donation, just donate for the second half as I wouldn't feel right taking money for the first half which I didn't create. Thank you so much for your contribution! Blessings!

Hi, Brenda: Your work is such an inspiration - love your school room and your articles! Tried to link through to SOTW 1 and SOTW 2 but Dropbox says the files don't exist.
Many thanks! paulaclemmer@yahoo.com

Hi Brenda. Thanks so much for all your work on this. I cannot seem to download the lapbook for SOTW 2. I am sure I'm just doing something wrong! JLynn1347@gmail.com

Brenda Johnston said...

Sorry it's not working. Trying to figure out what the problem is. Keep checking back. I may have to have a friend help me, but I will get it up again soon. Computers--love 'em and hate 'em! : )

Brenda Johnston said...

Just got the second half of SOTW 2 working. It was an issue with Dropbox. Working on SOTW 1 and the first half of SOTW 2. Because I didn't create these and they were saved as individual files, I have to wait on a friend to help me--no idea what to do! Thanks for your patience.

Brenda Johnston said...

All links are now working! :)

Unknown said...

THANK YOU! seriously from the bottom of my heart! I thought I lost this lapbook and was mourning my younger kids not doing it! I donated to your "tip jar," thank you, so cute! It's a small price to pay for what an awesome resource this is! My son and I have loved this as a supplement to SOTW. Bless you!

This is amazing! We are almost done with SOW3, will you be doing one for SOW4?

Brenda Johnston said...

Yes, I am currently working on SOTW 4. I hope to have it up sometime in July! Thanks!

Cari said...

Hi! I am trying to download SOW2 lapbook, but it is not working. In both links gives the message that the files have been moved. We are starting SOW2 in August and I am gathering the material. Do I donate before I download your files or in any moment. I want to help with your ministry! Blessings,
Cari

Brenda Johnston said...

Hi Cari,
The links work on my end and I know others have downloaded since your post. Try a different browser or a different computer. Hopefully you were able to figure it out! :)

This looks great! I have never done a lapbook before- how do you lay it out? Do you have pictures of the inside of yours?

Unknown said...

I just downloaded the SOTW lap books and they are INCREDIBLE! Thanks so much! I made sure to donate.

Actual Reality Homeschool Academy said...

Any tips on how to assemble these?? I have never done a lap book before and it terrifies me. I have watched the youtube video 5 times and just unsure. Thanks!!!

Lisa Harvey said...

Oh no! Your dropbox says your links have generated too much traffic and service has been suspended! Is there some way we can help you get them back up? I'm a little bit desperate. Your materials are fabulous, and I stupidly didn't download.

Brenda said...

I'm working on trying to get Dropbox back up. I am not tech savvy, so it might take me a few days. Plus, I have a newborn. Lol.

Unknown said...

Hi! These are amazing!! I am preparing to start my school year next week, and this is my first attempt at lapbooking, so I am trying to make a "master" to get the idea of it before I start with the kids.

So this is my question ... are you fitting the components for all 42 chapters into two file folders glued back to back? Or is that just the first 23 chapters? I'm so confused how I'm supposed to cram all these things in here ...

Thanks in advance for any answers!

Actual Reality Homeschool Academy said...

@cynthia I took 2 folders back to back. I also had to take 3 halves and staple 2 in the front and 1 in the back to get all the chapters in the same lap book.

Help! I love your lapbooking materials, but went to print out what I need for the next few chapters and its gone! This is the message I keep getting: Error (429)
This account's links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled!

Is there anything I can do to get a hold of it again? Thanks so much for your help!

Thank you so much for your work on this! I would love to use them, but I am also getting the error that says there is too much traffic :(

LizzyMama said...

@AmyDuffy, I also have not been able to download anymore through dropbox. I'm wondering if anyone has these files and could put on dropbox long enough for those of us who hadn't gotten a chance to download the files yet. I'm lookng for SOTW 2, lapbook 1 and 2. Thanks!!

Actual Reality Homeschool Academy said...

I have them all because I absolutely loved them and wanted to make sure they didn't disappear from the internet. We have only made it to volume 2. I made a donation when I got them. I have no idea how to properly share. If anyone wants to make a donation to the creator so she still gets credit for her creation, they use the $ for mission trips, I am happy to share what I have. While the account is dormant. My email is amyduffy@ me.com. I hope she comes back soon! I have loved her ideas on SOTW.

HiAmy! Can you please send us vol 3 and 4 if you have them? Tha ks so much!

I am emailing you Amy and I will happily make a donation to the creator!!

I am working on fixing all of the links. Dropbox changed the way they store files. For now, all of the links are on one of the links on the SOTW 2 page (not sure how ALL of them appeared), but I am working on making each link individual. People can always email me if they have issues--I don't always see blog comments, but I see my email (at top of my blog) daily. Thanks for stopping by!

Brenda Johnston said...

All links are now updated and working. Thanks for your patience. Happy lap booking!

Hi! I made my donations and am trying to download the SOTW 2 second half, and the SOTW 4 file, as well, but I keep getting an Error 403 code on Dropbox, although I am signed in, and just cleared my browsing history. Could you please help me with this?

Thanks!

Actual Reality Homeschool Academy said...

Try sending her an email.

Brenda Johnston said...

Amy Sears--I emailed several people files today and then deleted the emails--just double checking to make sure I connected with you. If you didn't get the files, please email me directly. Thanks!

Amy Sears said...

I don't mean to be absolutely dense, but I don't see your email address anywhere. How do I respond?

Thank you for making these! I just donated and would love to get the ch 24+ file. Do you have a link for that? Thank you!!!

Brenda Johnston said...

Hello ladies--I think 2-3 links are still not working--trying to figure it out. If you can email me directly, I can email them to you. Click on the "mail" button at the top right of my blog next to the Pinterest symbol. I don't want to write my email out here--don't need any extra spam. Thanks!

Can you please explain how you arranged the file folders? "Two file folders glued back to back"....I don't understand and so I don't understand how you could fit everything in this arrangement.

Brenda said...

Hi Angela! I'm currently on vacation for the next couple of weeks with limited wireless, so it's not easy for me to find a link for you. I haven't done any videos on my site as there are already so many on YouTube. If you search for "lapbook" or "lapbook tutorial," you'll find several people who show you how to glue them together. You won't find a tutorial specific to my lapbook, but you'll find generic ones that you can use with any lapbook elements. If you fold the two sides of a file folder into the middle (like I've done with my castle) and then do the same with another one and glue them back to back, you will have plenty of room. However, you won't just be using the file folders. Inside each folder, you'll tape an 8.5x11 sheet of cardstock. This will essentially give you more area to glue lapbook elements--you'll hide many underneath the cardstock--it will be like secret spaces inside the castle! I'm hoping that makes sense. If you can't find anything, I can dig around when I return in a couple of weeks. Blessings!
